“Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him.  Luke 8:39

I felt led to reach out and send you a note today.  I used to attend Heritage United When I was in high school (1990-1993) and it was the start of my wonderful journey with Christ.  You see, I was a Muslim then and I didn't really know anything about Christ.  I was blessed to stay with Emma and Rev Chandler, and I met wonderful, caring folks at church like Jean Bishop, the Scalfs, Marybeth Hawk, etc...I joined the choir, helped with VBS, attended Sunday School, even went to a Carmen concert with the youth!

Many years and an abusive arranged marriage later, I did become a Christian, much to the chagrin of my Muslim family.  I was disowned for many years.  We have since reconciled.  I met and married a wonderful man who had been praying for a Christian wife for three years!  I have been water baptized adn am currently on track to complete my Pastoral-ship course with the Assemblies of God.

I know that it was because of the prayers of the people in that Church and my Christian friends in high school that I am a Christian today.  It took a while, but God finally got my whole heart in 2005.  It's been an amazing journey so far.  I can't wait to see what else He has planned for us!  It all started at Heritage United and for that, I am forever grateful.
